Planet 9 resident DJ Cosmo Brown has been slowly earning his stripes in the trenches of the Los Angeles drum and bass underground for the better part of three years. Using the latest releases from labels such as Virus, Audio Couture, Moving Shadow, Reneg ade Hardware, Metro, Sound Sphere and Full Cycle, he engages dancefloors on exquisite journeys of sound and dance characterized by dynamic, flawless mixing. He has been able to showcase his particular style through his residency at Midnite Bombers, a considerable number of gigs around Los Angeles and a series of mixtapes av ailable in local Los Angeles stores dedicated to electronic dance culture. He cites electronic musicians like Orbital and dj's Trance (now Jason Blakemore), Daniel, Doc Scott, Roni Size and Dj Die as seminal influences in the development of his electronic music tastes and DJ skills. His musical listening habits are interspersed with tunes from guitar driven hardcore groups such as Quicksand, Tool and Fugazi, to the work of classical geniuses like Beethoven and Bach, masterpieces from the fantastic genre of Cuban music like rumbas and sones, and a newly discovered love and admirat ion for jazz music from the likes of Thelonious Monk. Following the footsteps of the visionaries that set things afoot in the drum and bass scene, Cosmo seeks to preserve the tradition of experimenting with the broken beats and filtered samples in order to add his own contribution to the quest of bringing mu sic to life. To this end, he has set plans in motion to launch a stateside record label, Lush Recordings, associated with Planet 9. Past appearances have included:
